WiMAX 3.5 GHz Broadband Wireless System

VistaMAX®
WiMAX Broadband Wireless - 3.5 GHz Products
Download Datasheet

Base Station

The VistaMAX® OBR3500 is a self-contained all outdoor base station which can be configured with an integrated antenna (60, 90 or 120 degree) or with an external antenna connector to allow for omnidirectional configurations. Connection to the outdoor unit requires only a single Ethernet cable for power and data. All MAC, baseband modulation and radio functionality is integrated into the single outdoor OBR3500 unit.

The VistaMAX 3.5 GHz system requires an additional indoor WES800 Ethernet Switch to provide power to sectors using the units and serve as the network connection point. The WES800 Ethernet Switch supports up to eight OBR3500 or OSR3500 elements. Connections to the backbone network and between outdoor elements are made through the integrated Ethernet switch in the WES800. An RJ-45 10/100/1000 Ethernet uplink port is included in the WES800 and an optional SFP module for 10/100/1000BaseT copper or 1000BaseX fiber connections can be purchased.

The base station configuration is flexible enough to allow for high density urban deployments, point-point backhaul and low density rural rollouts. Point-point backhaul can be used to connect the cell with other cells, main backbone interconnection points or create multiple point-point links to high data rate subscribers. Point-point backhaul links can be established using two OBR3500s or one OBR3500 plus one OSR3500 depending on data rate and distance requirements.

Subscriber Station

The VistaMAX OSR3500 subscriber transceiver is a self-contained outdoor unit which comprised the network interface, MAC, baseband PHY and radio portions of the VistaMAX solution. A single Ethernet cable provides both power and data to the outdoor unit. The OSR3500 is IEEE 802.3af-compliant for Power over Ethernet and can be powered with either the PoE midspan injector (VPNCPE/POE) or any switch/hub which supports 802.3af.

For long distance links or high capacity configurations, the VistaMAX OBR3500 can be configured to be used as a SS element. This provides maximum uplink and downlink throughputs and allows for higher output power to maximize coverage. In this configuration, an external flat panel or parabolic antenna can be used with the OBR3500.

Features

  •   Up to 22 Mbps throughput using 64QAM modulation in a 7 MHz channel.
  •   Time Division Duplexing (TDD) for maximum spectral efficiency.
  •   True NLOS (non line of sight) performance using OFDM.
  •   Full QoS (Quality of Service) to support real-time services & guaranteed service levels.
  •   Power Connect audible installation assistance to facilitate customer self-install.

VistaMAX Integrated Radio Modules

The VistaMAX system includes two fully integrated outdoor radio modules that offer a single box solution for WiMAX applications in the 3.3 to 3.8 GHz band:

OBR3500 – WiMAX outdoor base station.
OSR3500 – WiMAX outdoor subscriber station.

Both modules are contained in a weatherproof, sealed housing with an integrated antenna or NFconnector to accommodate external antennas.

Features

  • 802.16-2004 OFDM-compliant PHY & MAC.
  • Software-selectable channel bandwidths of 1.75, 3.5 and 7 MHz supports high data rates & penetration without hardware changes.
  • Time Division Duplexing (TDD) delivers maximum spectral efficiency at lowest cost.
  • Half Duplex FDD (HFDD) available on OSR3500 for use in FDD systems.
  • Fast adaptive modulation maximizes range and capacity.
  • Power over Ethernet offers convenient single cable connection and minimizes equipment requirements at base station and customer premises.
  • Integrated GPS timing provides automatic base station synchronization.
  • Integrated multi-strike lightning protection reduces downtime and maintenance costs.

WES800 - VistaMAX Ethernet Switch

Download Datasheet

The WES800 VistaMAX Ethernet Switch is used as a termination point and backbone network connection for up to eight VistaMAX base station (BS) and/or subscriber station (SS) elements. Eight Ethernet ports power IEEE802.3af devices. An RJ45 10/100/1000 Ethernet uplink port or an optional SFP module (for 10/100/1000BaseT copper or 1000BaseX fiber connections) is used to connect to the backbone network.

NMS8000 - VistaMAX Network Management Server

Download Datasheet

The NMS8000 provides system operators with comprehensive tools to operate and manage VistaMAX networks from Vecima Networks.
The centralized design of the NMS8000 simplifies many common maintenance and administration tasks by allowing password protected access for qualified personnel to view and configure crucial network parameters from either in the field or at the office. The NMS8000 also provides a vital tool for Vecima Networks to provide remote assistance to its customers and guarantee end-user satisfaction. All transactions take place in a secure environment using HTTPS or SSH which are proven data encryption technologies.
  • Web-based control of Vecima Networks hardware
  • Continuously monitors and logs critical base station and subscriber station statistics
  • Continuously monitors and logs downlink and uplink CINR, RSSI and modulation/FEC (Rate ID)
  • On-demand report generation and analysis:
    • Monitor and adjust downstream/upstream RF parameters
    • Packet statistics
    • Bandwidth usage and throughput
    • Online/offline status monitoring
  • Enables Vecima to provide remote assistance to its customers

The NMS8000/SSP expands on the basic NMS8000 by adding functions for complete subscriber station provisioning that allow the system operator to create and administer custom subscriber service packages (i.e. Gold, Silver, Bronze) based on downstream/upstream data rates and priority. These policies are assigned directly to each subscriber station on the VistaMAX network. Similarly to the NMS8000, all transactions take place in a secure environment using HTTPS or SSH which are proven data encryption technologies.
The NMS8000/SSP saves time and money by dealing with a single, comprehensive, integrated system rather than outsourcing to several other more costly - and often incompatible - third party software alternatives.

NMS8000/SSP Features - Includes all NMS8000 features PLUS:
  • Subscriber IP allocation
  • Administer subscriber service packages
  • Adjust downlink/uplink bandwidth, IP distribution, etc.
